Haven’t been able to update as of late. I went to below left and below right respectively, that’s why. I didn’t take a lot of photos, but I have lots of updates and POVs to share:

  1. YSL retrospective exhibition. No photo restriction made me mad, but it’s a personal review as a fan.
  2. A reality check on Parisian wardrobe: the charm of the men (nice shoes and haircut) and the women (brunette and attitude).
  3. Surprise notion on Longchamp and Lancel, two very popular comparatively lower prix point handbag from France.
  4. From St Paul’s to hi-street, from boutiques to dept. stores: how do the mass shop? The retail scene in Paris.
  5. Merci – the TOTT.
  6. The power of Balmain lingers.
  7. Chit chat with Maria Luisa – As I’m writing this post, the news has already come out online, but I had it 1st hand and more to share. Most importantly, she has her eyes laid on the 3rd reincarnation!
  8. Shanghai magic? Not quite to me (getting patriotic to HK here). A personal notion on the city where makes the world crave.

I always concern about my hair, and would invest more than enough money and time on it. Therefore, when Jimmy, my technician told me something that I know for a long time at my recent trip to the salon, I decided to try something new again as he suggests:

Jimmy: You have very sensitive skin (ref. to my scalp).
Yours truly: I know, sometimes it gets really bad when weather changes, it gets really itchy ‘n inflammed, and I’d get dandruff.
- What shampoo are you using?
- I’ve been using Rene Furterer, the daily use one. I used it before and restarted again lately.
- Oh, I use that too, but maybe you should try using different thing and use that maybe once  week.
- I’ve tried many of their products for different reason, like the Melaleuca during the itchy flaky period.
- Maybe you get try their Complex 5 to deep clean it once in a while …

Like my cousin said- “don’t use bad things on yourself, especially when it comes to skin and hair related (i.e. treat yourself the best). Due to the above, I started my searching for better shampoo. There aren’t many real professional products at supermarkets or drugstores. Since I notice Leonor Greyl, I check their website, only to find that they’ve got such long history with so many products, I then send email to the  HK contact from the site to check and see if they have selling point in town. I get a prompt reply from the agent and was informed that they’re selling at Joyce and Lane Crawford. I pay a visit to the former, they don’t have the entire product line of course. I asked the SA to recommend something for daily use, she came up the Bain Vitalisant B shampoo which I bought; however, she warned that it doesn’t foam at all, and I might need some time to get used to the idea.  She also suggests to use the Régénérescence Naturelle for nourishing.

Like other LG products, the shampoo is natural and eco-friendly, also, this one is paraben free, silicone free and sodium laureth sulfate free. As you might know, SLS is the foaming agent that harms our hair follicle and skin. She’s right, it takes a few time to get the knack of using non-foaming shampoo, I was also suggested to add water to hair as lathering and messaging the scalp. The result was very nice. I always had this feeling of “more foam=cleaner”, and this shampoo proved it wrong, and also, it’s so clean and my hair and scalp are not overly dry afterwards, the texture feels just right, love it and will sure try more products in future.

As mentioned in the latest weekend wonder, models Sasha P. and Evelina T. alike are LG supporters, not only that, Odile Gilbert – Lagerfeld’s long time regular hair collaborator for Chanel shows, is also a self-claimed fan of the “all-natural French brand for as long as she can remember”. Apart from the fashion circle, Leonor Greyl has loyal band of fans from the show biz too: Madonna, Gwyneth, Brangelina… etc.

Here are some tips from their official website:

  • For making your hair glossy, apply a little vinegar or a lemon juice ; then rinse it through with cold water. Scalp of your hair will be tightened and the gloss of your hair will be improved.
  • Never do a perm, or a color, or highlights on the same day. Always leave a 3 weeks’ delay between each technique. Hair wouldn’t be able to bear such a treatment.
  • Sun, humidity and pollution are really agressive for hair. It is necessary to protect them . It is quite natural to lose some hair everyday. As nails, hair is living : it has an approximatively 6 years’ existence. Normally, hair loss happens essentially in autumn: this season is ideal for beginning a treatment against hair loss. Hair will grow stronger afterwards.
  • Hair can be washed everyday if you use an appropriate shampoo.

I know it’s been a while. I’m busy w/ my life and what not…

When I was in Paris early Oct., I saw many friends from Hong Kong at Maria Luisa-Printemps cocktail party, friends, i.e. real friends who want you good w/ best of hearts, told me that they miss the old me, the bitchy me, in which I’ve become a lot softer – mellow is da word. I then went to Hogan party (spot me) few weeks after. I felt the eyes, talk-behinds ‘n da ‘what is he doing here?’ kinda thing, that’s so funny. Anyway, I figured, people who love you, they remain loyal and would still be in love with, and those who never did love you, they mock you no matter what good you do, because they’re the weakest in da link. Therefore, from now on, I’ll just say whatever I wanna say in the cyber world, I take it as a free podium as it should be, and pourquoi pas? Let’s shake things up!!! Bcos – If it doesn’t kill you it makes you stronger.

Eyes_of_LMI talked about fashion movie earlier, but I missed this one out. If <Beautiful Fall> penned the decade of decadence, <Eyes of Laura Mars> has to be the one that captured and visualised it – at the time, in 1978.

A lot of people consider <Bonnie & Clyde> or <The Thomas Crown Affair> as her iconic fashion movie, but to me, this is the one. A fashion thriller based on the eponymous novel. I was first recommended by my former editor boss five years ago who loaned me the DVD. It wasn’t so much about featuring designer clothes, but in fact the fashion, the 70s Studio 54 style and the specific photography that accentuated it. As Fred Astaire ‘n Audrey Hepburn’s <Funny Face> was about Richard Avedon in the 1950s; <EoLM> reflects Helmut Newton’s 1970s- the peak era of the master’s body of work. Although his work was featured in the film, but ironically the photos he contributed were not satisfactory. The director wanted scenes of blood and corpses which were of no interest to Helmut. He defended his fashion photos as erotic rather than violent. Barbra Streisand was the initial choice of the main role, she was dating Jon Peters, the producer of the movie then; but eventually decided not to take the role because of “the kinky nature of the story”. It would have made a huge difference if she did.
