Normally, I do my best not to nick or reuse other blogger’s or publication’s materials. I respect intellectual property. But when it comes down to things that I wanna talk about too, or people that I somehow know; then why not if it broadens the audience, gets people to know and support the minority names other than LVMH, Gucci and Prada?

I come across this video shot by Diane Pernet of ASVOF randomly. Robin Schulié, chief buyer of Maria Luisa, shares his view on FW09. So, it’s all about Nina Ricci “one of the best show, most beautiful show I ever seen, pure Theyskens, everything I’d hav expected from him”; and he expected Balenciaga to be “pretty and chic”. And in London, Marios Schwab “was amazing”. Everyone else might be ambiguous about Christopher Kane, but he thinks his “dresses are so beautiful”. Plus his encouraging words on how to face recession as a retailer. If the designers are not playing safe, the retailers should second that, and neither should the customers; so everybody – pleeeaaaase KEEP SHOPPING!!! Below shown are Robin’s selections for Not Just A Label, original shown at Dazed Digital

  •  Keeeping up the order | Hermès breeds their own crocodile in order to keep up the demand on croco Kelly.
  • Lulu Guinness awarded | The handbag designer talks about sweet and sour and her forever inspiration Elsa Schiaparelli.
  • CdG celebrates in guerrilla-style | Suzy Menkes talks to Rei Kawakubo about her power of black and 10 new guerrilla stores.
  • A magazine by Proenza Schouler | Are they getting exclusive or arsy at Nathalie Ours or why? seems like July Stars was the only one who’s blogged about it with related pictures. For what reason tho?
  • Online power Take 2 | Thefacehunter Show: Paris II & MYKROMAG issue II.

Buying 120 Birkins, from 9,000 to 34,000(USD) along the way in 111 Hermès stores around the world? Michael Tonollo talks about his shopping journey. Insane. Insane. I didn’t even know about this book which was launched like what, last year? One more question is: has Hermès got 275 stores in the world? WTF, that’s luxury for you right there. Maybe I should write a book about shopping YSL or Balenciaga, both current and vintage, along the way by Orient Express and calling it <Bringing Home Balenciaga: My Life in Hot Pursuit of the Universe’s Coolest Clothes>. Let’s. Hopeful. I mean … arrr … you never know.

‘What would I like to be in another life, if that could happen.’ – Elsa Schiaparelli

Maybe another Italian woman who makes dresses once again? Why not?

That was the greeting line on the website, whether it really was Schiaparelli herself is to be found out. Also, who is going to take the creative director role at the end? No one knows. The final choice is unlikely to be announced anytime soon, as chairman Diego della Valle decided to postpone the relaunch of this brand until 2011, His ownership of Schiaparelli is similar to the case of Bernard Arnault and Dior. Anyway, I noticed the official website has been initially readied for a while now. Although not a lot to click into, but it looks very interesting and striking so- as all Tod’s group’s websites can be. One thing I noticed is that in order to modernize the brand, Schiaparelli, like Burberry and Dior, has done a minor ‘operation’ on the name by dropping her first name ‘Elsa’.

Sequel to to Murakami’s <Superflat Monogram>(below) anime short in 2003. <Superflat First Love> just came out to mark the 6th year collaboration between Louis Vuitton and Takashi Murakami. Have we been poisoned for six years and still alive? That long? The film was cute though.
